AFTERNOON TEA FOR TWO

Happy Monday loves!

Yesterday I met up with my friend Monroe of Fashion Steele NYC for afternoon tea which turned into a full out brunch instead! I’ve been wanting to visit the Grand Salon in the Baccarat Hotel for a little while now  after one of my close friends told me it’d be a good place to do a blog shoot. After perusing photos of visitors staying at the hotel via Instagram and falling in love with the decor I proposed our meet up there and she was down to go! Once we arrived literally minutes before our 2:30p.m. reservation, we were enamored with the large chandeliers, plush couch seating, and oversize deep red circle bouquets on the dining tables. Many young women like ourselves were enjoying many sweet and savory treats and we thought to ourselves we’d go for the same experience as well – not just the tea. We started off with the Prince of Wales which included many bite size treats such as scones, a devil quailed egg topped with caviar, the most decadent chocolate mousse cake, lobster roll, and even more sweet and savory options. We opted for another tea paired with these treats which was the Black Orchid. I’d describe it as rich, dark, and current with a touch of spice! Initially we thought this would just wet our palette as they were all bite sized so I also had grilled cheese with tomato soup while Monroe enjoyed a lobster salad. The price for this culinary experience is at least $80 but oh so worth it as the food is traditional and interesting, yet expertly prepared.

It was really nice to dress up, catch up on life and love, and to just share our experiences and how far we’ve come over a nice meal in a luxurious setting! For this outing I wanted a simple and refined look. As I get older, dressing up isn’t always about a tight fitting outfit to feel sexy. The art of feeling sexy is truly to suggest, and I felt like my ensemble did just that. I wore an off the shoulder black long sleeve bodysuit with white high waisted pants, a thin strapped black sandal, my cropped faux leather jacket, and spotted faux fur which I LOVE so much!I pulled my hair into a low ponytail and wore soft makeup with a pale pink lip. What I loved most about my outfit was the only skin revealed were my shoulders which accentuated my neckline but my tailored trousers elongated my frame. I think trousers are one staple item I plan to buy more of and pair them with cute tops.

What do you wear that makes you feel sexy? Do you plan to visit the Baccarat Hotel for tea? If you do, let me know in the comments below!
